In
1998 the Honorable William S. Cohen, Secretary of Defense, established the
Joint Electronic Commerce Program Office. This marked a milestone in the
department’s evolution to incorporate advanced technology solutions into
the very fabric of business processes in support of the warfighter. Each agency within DOD was invited to
submit their most significant electronic commerce accomplishment. Agencies also were invited to submit
industry partner nominees for Best Electronic Commerce Team in the large
and small business categories. DeCA submitted their very successful
integration of DIBS and FDS. DeCA
also selected Bethel-Eckert as their nominee for Best Electronic Commerce
Team [ Business Partner ] in the small business category. The award recognizes the teaming of a
government agency and industry for outstanding achievement in the
advancement of electronic commerce principles or applications within DOD.
On June 10, 1999 in Washington D.C. DeCA and Bethel-Eckert were
awarded the prestigious “Best Electronic Team” in the entire Department of
Defense for the small business category.
We congratulate DeCA, one of our many business partners, for
receiving this outstanding award. We
are very proud of our company and employees for their individual
contributions that have led to this outstanding award with DeCA. As electronic commerce becomes a more critical integral
part of doing business this award is recognition Bethel-Eckert’s electronic
capabilities are second to none.
